What exactly is Pilates?


Pilates is a way of exercising that teaches and reinforces good posture, reducing or even eliminating back pain and bodily discomfort. The exercises are specifically designed to develop better balance in all of your body movement so that you can get more out of life!

Pilates teaches you how to breathe more effectively, sit properly, stand, walk, and even run more safely! In general, Pilates exercises teach you to move in ways that make you look younger, feel younger and act younger.

Joseph Pilates, born in Germany in 1880, was a sickly child. He resolved to improve his poor physical health and spent his life overcoming ailments including asthma, rickets and rheumatic fever. He made it his life-long aim to bring the best out in his body. Achieving his goal, he even posed for physiological and anatomical charts!
